PAYMENT

INSURANCE:
I am not a participant in any "Managed Care" panels (where an insurance company provides you with a list of practitioners, and you are only responsible for a small co-pay.) I know that this makes it more difficult for you, so I would like to explain why:

Due to the low rates of reimbursement that these insurance companies provide, therapists who participate in these plans are forced to see many more clients each day than they would ordinarily. This pushes their energy and concentration to its limits. Many such therapists have also cut down the length of sessions to 45 minutes. I prefer to see only the number of clients that allows me to devote to each my full attention, for 55 minute sessions, which is the length of time I find most productive.

Also, many insurance companies pay for only a few sessions--far fewer than needed. They often refuse to renew approval for ongoing treatment before clients have finished treatment, and cut off reimbursement abruptly, without giving the client and therapist a chance to "terminate" treatment (spend time ending the therapy relationship). I prefer to allow my clients to decide how much treatment they need, and when to stop.

These companies have also been known to require that therapists disclose excessively invasive personal information about the client, including, occasionally, the actual case notes from sessions.

There are other problems associated with these plans. Often, it is difficult for clients to find therapists who have sufficient knowledge or experience regarding their special concerns.

For these reasons, for your needs as well as mine, I have chosen to practice independently of "Managed Care". That means that you will be required to pay my fee--not just a co-pay-- directly. However, you may receive "out of network" reimbursement from your company, which might help pay for your treatment to some degree. We can discuss this when you call.

FEES:

THERAPY:
Adjustments available to full fee based on client circumstances and resources..

If you will need a reduced fee, be prepared to provide me with some financial information--income, special circumstances (household situation, debts, child support, etc.), and please put some thought into what you can handle, so we can discuss it when you call. That way, you will know what to expect before we agree to meet.

(And by the way--did you know that therapy is considered a medical expense, and that you might be able to deduct the cost, as well as your travel expense, on your taxes?)

CONSULTATIONS:
Professional consultations are $125/ hr.

E-QUERY:
Per Question: $45
(you will need to be registered with PayPal for these services)

PLEASE INQUIRE ABOUT RATES for LECTURES, TRAINING, and other PUBLIC EVENTS.
CONFIDENTIALITY and PRIVACY:

I am professionally and morally required to respect your privacy and confidentiality. That means that I cannot, and will not, disclose anything about you--including the FACT that you are my client--to anyone. (There are certain legally required, specific and carefully controlled exceptions to this, which we can discuss when we meet.)

YOU, on the other hand, can discuss your treatment with anyone you choose, if you so desire.

This is BONNIE, Official Greeter. You'll meet her at the office. She's good for a laugh--and not so bad if you are feeling down, either.
